I love a good vintage frock but I’m not usually able to achieve the bona fide authentic look due to my inability to use a liquid eyeliner properly, without channeling panda chic, and impatience at styling my thick hair.
But a few weekends ago I paid a visit to Simon Hunt at Alt Studio who, armed with an amazing hair stylist and make-up artist, transformed me from bedraggled vintage lover into, well this…
It all looks lovely and serene from the front but I’ll let you into a little secret… this Wigan gal seemed to have most certainly eaten all the pies as mere minutes after getting into this dress the zip burst. Great!
One quick change later into my gorgeous Very Cherry Retro dress and here I am channeling my inner Marilyn Monroe as I experience something of an updraft…. ooh-er!
Moving from the 1950s into the edgy 1960s here I am modelling the dress I’m wearing to the Vintage Manchester Awards.
I love the drama in this shot and the beehive of epic proportions – can’t wait to wear this again come October 23 and swish around like a 60s diva!
There is another pic but I’ll save it for post-awards… got to give you something to come back for, right?
Fast forward another ten years and here I am embracing a hippy 70s look… you may recgonise the hat….!
All this posing took it out of me so I decided to take a stylish rest….
All in all it was an absolutely fabulous day… I got three gorgeous makeover looks and a heap of photographs to take home with me.
The shoot itself took all afternoon but it absolutely whizzed by thanks to Simon’s fun attitude and the brilliant vintage-themed set list he had blaring out of the speakers.
If you fancy taking a journey through last century’s most fashionable eras I suggest dropping him a message through the website, packing a suitcase full of your favourite vintage gear and spending a glorious afternoon playing dress up. Perfect!
