Spring has sprung: Plaid prints, apple green and the holy grail of vintage shoes

It’s been aages since I’ve done an outfit post – partly because I’ve been working late, but even when I’ve been home during the day the lighting has been appalling.

As I’m sure you’re well aware last Friday I attended the grand unveiling of the #imapiece exhibition.

The event wasn’t due to start until 6pm, and I was on a half day, so I had a wander further up Oldham Street and found an amazing new second-hand stomping ground.

This cheap and cheerful shop may look a little tatty from the outside, but on the inside there are goodies galore just waiting to be found… (but more of that in a future post!)

Several bags of shopping and a gingerbread latte later, the other half and I ambled to the People’s History Museum.

As spring has started to sprung (kind of) I wanted to embrace some new-to-me green items that have squirrelled their way into my wardrobe over the last few months.

BLUE AND GREEN SHOULD ALWAYS BE SEEN: Classic colour combination

First up is this gorgeous green and blue plaid Jaegar jacket that I picked up from the Salvation Army shop in Wigan for the grand total of £4.99.

It certainly adds some colour and pattern to an otherwise plain outfit and isn’t too dissimilar  in terms of cut and button choice to the Italian Textured Jacket that’s currently selling for a not-so-thrifty £225.

The long-sleeved t-shirt is one from H&M’s basics section, whereas the jeans are my old faithful Simply Vera Wang jeans which I picked up from Banardos in the city centre.

The shoes are a fairly new purchase that I bought on the same trip as my Django boots – I love the dainty shape of them, the modest heel and above all the exquisite apple green colour.

READY FOR MY CLOSE-UP: Dainty pre-loved shoes

You’ve got to love a pair of shoes that get you through a shift at work, a 2-hour impromptu vintage shopping expedition, an art unveiling and a run for the last train home without hurting your feet.

Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve found the holy grail of pre-owned shoes.

Wearing:

Collarless jacket: Jaegar via Salvation Army (Wigan) £4.99

White top: H&M (Wigan) £7

Jeans: Simply Vera Wang via Banardos (Manchester city centre) £6.99

Leather belt: Jaegar via Independent charity shop (Beverley) £3.99

Court shoes: Lotus via British Red Cross (Bourne, Lincolnshire) £2.99

Have you picked up any can’t-live-without pre-loved goodies recently?

Hope you have a fab weekend x

  1. What a lovely picture of you at work! that jacket and jeans combo is cool, effortless and classy but how can you bear to bare your feet? It’s freezing! xxx

    • I live in an enormous Edwardian house which is near impossible to heat up – I think I must be accustomed to the cold :p xxx

  2. So true, almost regardless of what they look like, any pair of shoes that can see you through a full day pain-free are worthy of more than a little respect. All the better when they just happen to be adorable and stylish like these green beauties. Wonderful outfit from head-to-toe!
