I’m a bit of a fan of kimonos and kimono jackets.
Having gone from seeing them as a ‘costume’ piece and believing there’s no way I could wear one without feeling like I’m dressing up I’ve now got two in my wardrobe.
I’m not sure whether the poor quality kimono-style jackets that flooded the high street last summer put me off them.
You know the ones I mean, they crease as soon as you look at them and have a pathetic attempt at fringing which gave them a cheap look (think the Primark sale section in autumn).
But after getting my mitts on that pink beaut (as shown in my last post) I was definitely more open to the idea.
So when I went to Lemington last week to meet my friend Beth for lunch and a charity shop mooch and spotted this I decided to at least try it on.
It was love at first wear. It’s a light enough material that’s great for spring/summer but heavy enough to hang just nicely.
It’s the perfect statement jacket to chuck on with plain separates to pull a look together. And it was less than a fiver.
It got its first outing last Saturday when my parents came to visit and we headed to Warwick for the day.
My outfit otherwise was a pretty plain affair but paired with this jacket, floral sunnies and a metallic satchel I think it came together quite nicely.
Sadly this was the nearest we got too Warwick Castle as it costs £30 per adult to go round it and the gardens.
We decided against spending the best part of £100 wandering around it and instead meandered round the antique and charity shops picking up a few bits and bobs along the way.
Sadly they’re packed away (that’s another story!) but will get their moment to shine here in the weeks to come.
