Gimme some lovin’: Valentine’s Day plans, a blog award and shameless plugs

So today’s the big one, the day that Cupid strikes, pulling back his quivering bow (steady) and setting his sight on pairing up new couples.

Either that or a commercial ploy to get us to spend lots on sickly-sweet cards, giant teddy bears (where do people keep these monstrosities?!) and saucy undies.

Celebrating Valentine’s Day used to be something of a novelty, as it was a ‘holiday’ studiously ignored in the Mancunian Vintage home.

When I asked why that was the case my dad told me: “Why do I need a day to tell your mum I love her? It should happen all year round.”

Before hastily adding: “Not that we’re into that type of stuff….” *cough*

CHECK MATE: Colour pop checked suit

Oh Papa Vintage you old smoothy!

If my fella wanted to buy me a present I really wanted then who am I to stop him?

If he got me something like this suit, for example, I wouldn’t be returning it any time soon. *hint hint*

This year I’m hoping to get home from work before 7pm, don my onesie (attractive, yeah?) and nom my way through a Chinese takeaway, along with ze boyf, while catching up with Dancing on the Edge.

Who said romance was dead?

As the blog headline suggests I’ve been nominated for a blogging award by lovely Leeds lass Almond Rock.

I’ll get my thinking cap on as to seven interesting things about me that you may possibly want to know.

Any requests?

Further shameless Mancunian Vintage plugs include the following:

I now have a regular vintage column over at Mancunian Matters which is well worth a read. Even if I do say so myself…

Mancunian Vintage is also on Facebook, click here to get all the latest vintage chat as it happens.

You can also get all your Mancunian Vintage chat in 140 characters or less over on my Twitter feed.

Hope you have a fab day, whatever you’re up to.

What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? Love it or loathe it?

  1. I do agree with your Dad, we make each other a card but refuse to subscribe to rest of it!
