THIS GIVEAWAY IS NOW CLOSED
Milliner to the stars and royal favourite Philip Treacy teamed up with renowned fashion designer Jasper Conran 20 years ago to create a sumptuous costume wardrobe for Broadway hit musical My Fair Lady.
And now the lavish costumes and hats are coming out of retirement and near to a Street Where You Live from September 12-14 at the Creative Stitches & Hobbycrafts show at Event City, near the Trafford Centre.
Visitors will not only get the chance to get up close and personal with stunning costumes, including floral-themed dresses and hats from the infamous Ascot scene, but also peruse the many craft stalls there.
And lucky readers have the chance to get their mitts on tickets to the show absolutely free – all you have to do is leave a comment below.
Jane Bolsover, costume coordinator for show organisers ICHF Events said: “We are really lucky to have the fantastic costumes from My Fair Lady at the show.
“The pieces have been created by two of the greatest names and most iconic designers in British fashion.
“The detailing is astounding and really showcases the craftsmanship and skill involved.”
Renowned for the elaborate detailing in his hats, Treacy’s My Fair Lady creations are no exception.
Floral designs constructed of silk, feathers and straw, each hat is a work of art with some measuring more than a metre in height.
The flamboyant designs are paired with beautiful evening gowns and cloaks created by Jasper Conran for the Grand Ball scene.
The floral theme continues through the rest of the exhibition with the world’s first life-size knitted garden.
Created by the UK Hand Knitting Association, this hand-worked masterpiece features flowers, bumble bees and ladybirds dotted around a quintessentially English garden.
If you’re itching to get involved in crafty goings on there are several workshops, talks and demonstrations to whet your crafty appetite and inspire your next project.
